The purpose of the Austin Aviators Flight Club is to promote safe, enjoyable flying and family-friendly aviation related activities. We are a non-profit organization dedicated to providing a social setting and inexpensive flying to its Members. Our aircraft may be utilized for advanced ratings (IFR, Commercial), but we do not make it available for primary flight training. Overnight trips, long weekends, and extended trips are permitted and cross country flying is encouraged.
We fly a Piper Cherokee, PA-28-235. Full IFR with Garmin 430W GPS Nav/Com, King KX155 Nav/Com, Autocontrol IIIb Autopilot, EDM 830 engine analyzer with Fuel Flow, 4 place intercom and complete new interior (2019)! This is a nice machine for both local and cross country flights. Fuel capacity with all four tanks is 84 gallons. Fuel burn, depending on how you run the engine is 11.5gph@65% up to 14gph@75%. We have virtually all available speed mods installed and performance numbers exceed those published in the POH. True airspeed at 65% is a solid 156mph. Truly one of the finest Cherokees flying today!
Typical utilization of the aircraft is 250 hours per year. We replaced our Lycoming O-540 engine with a factory remanufactured unit in May 2021.
